This is only my opinion but all of this makes perfect sense to me. You have the right to bash me if is doesn't happen.
Christie as we all know has turned into a darling for the GOP. He is 100% going to run for higher office (VP)in 2012 for a few reasons.
He knows that he has to strike while the iron is hot.
He knows he can't get reelected in NJ
A loss in the Governors race in NJ would pretty much be the end of his political aspirations.
A loss as a VP just sets him up for 2016.
I am not a big fan of his but I know he is very bright and he will move on before suffering a big loss in NJ.
If he ends his last year really well, then I would expect him to run again. He also gets to do what he wants. One of the reasons is this.. he's in a blue state and he was elected so he was given a pass to do anything he wants because he knows he doesn't have to worry about the typical democratic interest groups on his back. None of the Unions can threaten him with not giving him any money in the next election because they weren't going to give him money anyway. He's in the perfect position to be governor.
You state he can't get re-elected in NJ. I'm not so sure about that but a lot can (or can't, we are talking about NJ) happen in the next couple of years.
Anyway, what do you think his opponents will offer the citizens of NJ in order to beat him at the polls? (other than "I'm not Chris Christie", of course)
Honestly I just dont see him getting reelected. 35% of the state voted. He had the backing of quite a few union members. Now that is all lost. Not to mention the main thing is his battle will be seen as Rich Vs Poor. That will never get you reelected in NJ because our cities are just too large in number.
I of course could be wrong its just as I see it. NOt to mention his actions this last few weeks. dont help the reelection cause. His partying around with the GOP while we have big problems in NJ make me wonder even more.

That doesn't hurt him in anyone's mind unless they have a predilection for seeing Christie in a negative light in the first place. I dont think most people even give it a second thought. It's what governors (both democrat and republican) do.

Again, what platform could his opponents run on?
A promise to turn back the clock to Corzine, McGreevey and Whitman? To do things the "New Jersey way"?
I'd like to think we NJ'ians are as smart, savvy and sophisticated as we think we are.
