I will be attending Kean University in September and was wondering if anyone knows of apartments somewhat close-by (within 30min drive tops) that are safe and within my budget of 700-850. (I would be paying with student loans and my measly part time job paycheck) I also have a cat. I would have chosen the dorms, but I can not bear to give my cat up for adoption.

Much Thanks in Advance

I went to Kean, but commuted from home. Im sure you can find something in Elizabeth or shall I mention Newark. If safety is not an issue, go for those two places.

HUGE Studio. All Utilities Included!!! (http://cnj.craigslist.org/apa/2166018327.html - broken link)

This is right down the road from Kean maybe 1-2 miles and buses to nyc stop right in front of the building. My parents live a block away and I grew up there. Not a bad neighborhood overall.

Walk the halls. In many of the academic buildings you will find postings form people looking for roommates. (Mostly females looking for other females...non homo....I think)
