I would like to know what Italian culture traditions you have taught and/or passed dsown to your kids. Stuff you have taught and raised them about. I'm half Italian and that's the culture I claim too. It doesn't hurt that my non itlaian side is only anout 6 people while my dad's side is about 500! haha. Anyways, i was just curious to what you have passed down to your kids to keep the traditons alive.

i'll be doing this in future tense, since my son is 1 month old.
i plan on doing all of the cooking that comes with it. hopefully sunday dinner. my family all loves trips to italy, so we'll do that. christmas eve dinner will always be fish. and our ancestry is something we talk about a lot. so our children will learn about that as well.
A friend of mine is very Italian and lives at the shore (named his son Enzo, lol). He made it his lifes mission to teach his son how to "fist pump" as soon as he could walk.

that has nothing to do with being italian, and only to do with being a douchebag.
italian people seem to love the fact that they refer to tomato sauce as "gravy." they think that is so fascinating.
this isn't universal. i've never heard marinara sauce or meat sauce referred to as gravy until i met people from jersey. i don't know if there's a certain part of italy where this transalation came from but this is what wikipedia says...
"Tomato gravyTomato gravy, which is distinct from the term as used by northeastern Italian Americans when referring to tomato sauce, is a sauce common in some rural areas of the United States, particularly where tomatoes were a staple food. Tomato gravy is prepared in a method similar to white gravy. The cooked tomatoes, some fat (usually cured pork fat) and flour are cooked together until thick, and seasoned with salt and pepper. Typically, tomato gravy is served over eggs, toast and biscuits."

My friend is anything but, it was simply an attempt at humor. BTW, he did teach his son how to fist pump and sent us the video. We all got a good laugh.
