Ice skating New Jersey - specific question (Wayne, West Orange: rentals, arena)

So I have a date for some time this week (she's not going to be available next 2 weekends, and I don't have this Friday)

I promised ice skating earlier, so I'd like to do that

It's surprisingly hard finding a weekday, night time public skating time

Richard J. Codey arena in West Orange has one.

Does anyone know if they have skate rentals there? And are they the laced kind? The ski-boot kind that they have at the Palisades Center, for example, destroy your feet. I'd like to avoid those

other than that, anyone have any other suggestions? I found some article listing different places in/near Bergen county, but again, few late public skating sessions. Anybody know about the New Milford one behind the swim club?

oh and let me say that Essex, Hudson, and passaic counties aren't too far

Secaucus has a rink just off of Route 3 East Service Road at Plaza Center Road.

Did you check Ice Vault in Wayne?

I know Codey has rental skates and pretty much every skating place has rental hockey skates. I would also check out Clary Anderson in Montclair. Older rink, but one that has character. They have Thursday afternoon skating 4:30 - 6pm.

Maybe the ponds will freeze over and you can go for free. No skates provided.

Also, next time don't make a promise you may not be able to keep. Lots of kids play hockey at this time of year and those rinks are full.
