Chances are high I might be moving near Hamilton, NJ in the future..which is where my wife would be working.
Price range in terms of houses is ~$1,000,000. Willing to go up to $1.2M if it's a really awesome house/area..but ideally something 1M or less...
Requirements aren't many.
1.) At most a half-hour drive to Hamilton
2.) Strong school district
3.) Safe area
4.) Not a terrible commute to NYC
Longest the commute should be is an hour and forty five minutes to Midtown [including driving to the train station].
I heard finding parking around Princeton Junction is difficult.
With a 1-1.2M budget I'd recommend Trenton! Are we serious here?????
Yeah downtown Trenton. Maybe Ewing if you can get the budget up to $1.5M.
LOL! Sorry.... how about Princeton or West Windsor or Pennington?
If you go the opp direction into PA, there is Washington's Crossing and Newtown in Council Rock school district or Yardley in Pennsbury (I think) school district.
With that budget you would get a pretty good house in Princeton. Great schools, cute town, <30 mins into Hamilton but a crummy commute (1 hour-1.5) station to station to NYC.
West Windsor, great schools <20 mins to Hamilton, no downtown but a bit better commute to NYC.
Look at Robbinsville too. The town center has newer homes, small lots but a growing area. The HS is brand new (5 years old) a potential contender, shaping up, just too new to tell.
15 min drive into Hamilton down (very annoying) Rte. 33 but there is more potential for parking at the Hamilton Station than Princeton Jct. Plus you catch the train before the onslaught at Princeton Jct.
Go West Windsor or Plainsboro forget about the rest
