I'm from Newark, NJ stay in EO back in 2001 in the summer been out nj for 9 yrs thinking about moving back soon for my sister. How bad is Newark/East Orange, NJ now. I miss her she stays in Newark though, I'm in Augusta, Ga and I kinda iffy about safety and moving because my sister misses me.

Newark gets 'dark' very early...(if ya know what I mean...)
nybbler, what are you implying about newark and east orange, nj? Do you think I'll be alright there at them cities East Orange/Newark, NJ especially at night when I go clubbing or hang out? Augusta, Ga is boring and it's not for me. Bus transit sucks closes at 9pm and the people here are sooo nosy and I just hate it! There's not much too do on the weekends here!
What part of Newark does your sister live (general area) b/c I'd be very picky about where to stay in Newark (you have a leg up on most b/c you're from here)
Downtown Newark is OK, at least during the day. You and her should be fine there. Also, fine during the day is the Ironbound District around Ferry Street. Ditto University Heights next to Downtown, Forest Hills in the North Ward and the very tip of Vailsburg (most of Vailsburg is the worst part of the city), but only near Ivy Hill Park. Just stay in those areas during daylight hours...the rest is off limits to outsiders.
I can not tell you much about East Orange, other than the vast majority looked pretty bad when I drove through it.
