I took a trip to Branch Brook Park in Essex County Yesterday (home to the upcoming Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival) and discovered that the cherry blossom season has begun! Newly planted pink cherry blossom trees are in bloom now. However, the showstopping white cherry blossom trees are at least a week or more from blooming.

I keep a Cherry Blossom "BloomWatch" report on my website where I check on the status of the bloom season every two days throughout the season. Visit me to get status reports!

Here is a photo of the cherry blossoms shot yesterday!

Default Cherry Blossoms

Each year I try to time my viewing of the cherry bloosoms for maximum enjoyment. My husband just came back from Washington DC yesterday and said this was just how it looked there. A few vibrant trees open but most not blooming yet. It's wierd how we seem to be on the same schedule as Washington this year with the mild winter and early spring. Thanks for sharing your website. I'll keep watching!
