Help! Relocating to Western New Jersey! Need suggestions!

We are looking at a house in Franklin, near Washington. Our realtor said we can shop in Phillipsburg; however, I don't know how nice Phillipsburg is. Is it okay there to shop, see movies, etc?

Phillipsburg is a pretty depressed area, I'd personally avoid it. It is not unsafe like Newark, but there are gang issues and the entire town is pretty seedy.

Also, IIRC schools in Franklin are not good.

Thank you, Koala. I don't know where to go out there. It's kind of discouraging. We also like a home in White, but we prefer the farmland in Franklin to the mountains in White. I don't know if any of the schools out there are particularly incredible, but is Franklin specifically poor academically? We could also shop in Washington, rather than Phillipsburg...
