My fiance and I are considering buying a place near the Danforth Avenue light rail, and we're wondering what people have to say about that area of Greenville--we've read posts about Jersey City and Greenville that warn about the level of crime, but the area near the Danforth Avenue light rail seems well kept and safer than areas north of the cemetery. It seems that being near the station could be a benefit or a detriment, and we're not sure which this is. Comments?

bad bad bad, there are much better places to be found, true being close to the station is a plus and that might spark a change in the area but being a pioneer is not for me.
I live right across from the Danforth Lightrail now, it has to be the best area in the Greenville section. I feel safe going out and coming back at night. There are police patrols around the station alot and I heard from my landlord that there hasn't been anything around that area (that 1 or 2 block that I lived at) for over 3 years if not more. If not for a roommate situation, I might not have moved. It is convenient to the lightrail and also to the Acme and laundry place across the bridge in Bayonne. These are opinion as a renter, but situation might be different as a buyer. I have talked with a neighbor and he said that the little area has gotten alot worst since they put the station there as there are more crowd and kids hanging out at the station.
Me personally, even though I have the capability to buy now, I don't think I will ever buy anything in the area and will move back to Virginia when I'm done what I need to do here.
