my husband and i just purchased a home at greenbrier, not moved in yet,,,, i'v heard wonderful things about the community. but i also was told the association fee was $175.00 wrong! as we are going through the process of purchasing the fee was raised to $190.00. Double check, and yes the club house is the largest.

Lou I was quoted 2 hundred when I looked. Someone has to pay for the large club house and indoor and outdoor pools. Good luck we may be neighbors some day.
My name is Chris M. - lost my NYC, job of 23 years, 2 years ago as the industry I was in moved entire department overseas, my title was Vice President of Production. I have been struggling to find a niche for myself - after having sold our main residence, my husband, young son and I live in a summer home we had here in Waretown. I have been looking for close to 8 months for a job in the area, with no success. I have thought of two ideas and would love feedback from 55+community residents to see if I am even in somewhat of a ballpark of an entrepreneur business venture.
First
I thought of a business that would offer services to 55+ residents - something like a "watchdog" - where if you are seasonal, away traveling, or hospitalized - I would be your eyes and watch your property - services would include - check water heater, heating, a/c systems are working, water/prune plants as needed, check all windows are secure, check alarm system, check on lawn/snow maintenance contractual responsibilities are properly maintainted. Check house after storm - missing roof tiles, ceiling leaks, screen/doors/windows secure, water damage. Newspaper and flyer removal. Check light bulbs on timers/outside lights in working order, pet sitting (dogs, cats, fish, birds). I would offer reasonable weekly and monthly rates.
The reason I thought of this is that two of the woman on our block recently passes away, within two weeks of each other - both husbands had already passed. The one her only child lives in England - so there is no one to watch over the houses right now. Also, another woman passed on our street two years ago - no one ever goes to her house and I noticed that she had a koi pond in the back with fish, I feel bad for the fish, also during a storm her screen door broke away and was flapping back and fourth in the wind - it was like that for a good 6 months before someone must have fixed it. I think a lot of times you ask a neighbor to watch, but what if the neighbor goes away or just can't? I just thought it would be a great service to offer.
Any thoughts on this or advise I would appreciate it!
Second
I thought it would be great to bring 55+ residents and their local business community together - I would love to be a 55+ community events planner. Having a community day - where local business can showcase their products and services. These businesses could include the watchdog services, interior decorator, gourmet Italian deli, hair dresser/barber, golf shop, dry cleaner, local restaurants, florist, alarm company, accountant, just to mention a few - there must be a lot more businesses that would be thrilled at an opportunity to present themselves to a potential client base. This would be a great venue for the 55+ residents to meet the local business owners and make you aware of the services and products that they provide.
I am not sure if there is a space within the clubhouse that this could take place or even if this is something that has already been done?
Any thoughts or advise on this idea would be greatly appreciated as well!
I would like to thank anyone that can provide me with feedback - positive or negative.
What is in it for me - to feel useful and productive, and to work!
we are seriously thinking about Oceanaire.....Do you have any concerns regarding your close proximity to nuclear power plant ??......I understand Oyster Creek is close by.....
Any info would be greatly appreciated regarding this ...we love the place and want to make sure we chck ALL out before we buy....
Does anyone know if there have been any flooding problems issues in the community? There was a storm about a month ago and I read there was a lot of flooding at the shore... Was Greenbriar affected at all?
Well, we finally moved into Oceanaire last week. They did lose power for about 2.5 days during Sandy.
It's funny as I read my old posts about moving here on a few threads and some of them go back a number of years. This was partly due to the kids taking longer to move out and the housing market crashing. Took us a lot longer to sell then we ever imagined.
