Disturbing fact, indicative of the current administrations willingness to distort the truth and deceive the American people;
If they were counted the same way as they were counted historically, deportations under the current administration would be below those under the previous administration.
Or we could just raise taxes on the rich and close the loopholes and close our overseas bases and use the money to fund healthcare and education. But that makes too much sense, I know.
No, I think it makes great sense, but I am not deluded that this will ever happen in my lifetime, so we should be thinking of ways to alleviate the situation within our current situation.
Why should the taxpayer bear the burden of deporting them? There should be ridiculously high fines for any business caught hiring one, or any landlord renting to them. They would return home for the same reasons that brought them here - money. We know that works.
the politicians are just the ones collecting the money from the businesses and whatever groups may be interested in immigration "reform." i guess i didn't make it clear that when i say "the money is on the side of immigration reform, so that's what politicians go with" i mean that people are paying politicians to support something that their constituents don't want.
I agree, but the way to prevent this would be campaign finance reform with the taxpayer footing the bill and the public airwaves having a mandate to broadcast free debates as part of the licensing agreement. Most people's eyes glaze over when you mention these things and the media seems happy with the status quo.

yes, campaign finance reform and more transparency with how politicians spend our money. the less power politicians have to spend money; the less corruption there will be.

I say campaign finance reform because a huge number of people on all sides of the political spectrum would be for that. Other issues would just distract us, split us apart.

one thing i find amazing is the lobbyists. there are tons of lobbyists and many former politicians or staffmembers go into lobbying. dont people realize what lobbyists do? its a profession that is 100% centered around corruption. here is one way it works. you go to a lobbyist with an issue you have. the lobbyists identifies certain politicians that may help you. they tell you to donate x amount of dollars to these politicians. you have just bought some politicans. im pretty sure thats not how people want our government to run and that is exactly how it runs.
what do most people think lobbyists do?
