Hi all I've lived in Austin for 2 years now. I've been laid off twice and had 2 jobs just not work out not to my own accord.
I have 5 years worth customer service / it based background. I recently was in jersey city and thinking of relocating due my string of luck here and to be closer to my boyfriend. Originally from Nyc so I'm familiar with the path / public transit. I'm also 23. What are some decent areas within Ny / Nj I would be able to land a job in or around without my car which I would not be bringing more then likely. Also good staffing agencies or companies to work for or telecommute. My ideal rent would be between 750 - 800 split with my boyfriend.

Can you clarify for us whether you are talking about a total monthly rental cost of $750-800 (which you would split with your boyfriend), or are you talking about a rental fee of $1,500-1,600, of which your share would be $750-800?

If you are looking for a total monthly rental cost of $750-800 in the NY/NJ Metro area, I think that you will be limited to tiny studio apartments located very far from Manhattan, Jersey City, Newark, or any other place where jobs are more numerous.

I got the impression that the job situation in Texas is better if not much better than in NJ.

Where does your boyfriend live?

Texas leads the nation in workers earning at or below the federal minimum wage, is the state with the highest percentage of minimum wage jobs, and also leads the nation in percentage of citizens uninsured.

And then after that you get to send your kids to some of the worst regarded public schools in the country.

...and, it appears that Texas Governor Rick Perry is going to attempt, once again, to gain the GOP nomination for POTUS. You know...so that he can spread Texas's, "goodness", to the rest of the nation.

While I am not a fan of Chris Christie, in a debate, it would probably take CC all of 2 minutes to make Perry look like the fool that he is.

My boyfriend lives in jersey city and I've seen places for rent for 800 . Size doesn't matter honestly and location is not that big of a deal.
It seems so many people I know have been laid off here in Austin.

I would be very very cautious about any place in JC renting for $800.

+1

Sight-unseen, the OP might currently think that she doesn't care about location, but, after seeing where an $800 apartment is located in JC, I believe that she may think somewhat differently.

$800 in Hoboken might work if this was 1990.
