idk I liked what I seen of manalapan but I'm only going by what I see on their website...guess I'll have to check it out in person

Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Wyckoff, Allendale, Ramsey, Waldwick up north.

Cranbury & Princeton in central NJ. Manalapan has nice housing but with a boring, sprawling layout.

Spring Lake & Red Bank down the shore.

I live in Hazlet and I like it a lot. Nice people, great location, taxes aren't as high as some towns in the area. If you have kids and/or like the outdoors there's plenty to do. Commute to the city isn't hideous. If we ever hit the lottery we're moving to Fair Haven.

Given all the options mentioned, I would look at Middletown for that general area.

Hazlet and Aberdeen/Matawan are decent options for anyone on a budget, but are decidedly more lower middle/upper working class. Nothing wrong with that, however.

Manalapan is not a great area either. There has been a drug problem there for a long time that continues to be ignored, and the schools, contrary to popular belief, are only average. Most of it consists of displaced Staten Island grime living way over their means. The homes are full of empty rooms inside and they sleep on mattresses on the floor.

If it was just me and I had a choice- -I think because Im more of an urban creature Id pick a brownstone in Hoboken- -never would have said that 20 yrs ago-

If I had to pick a town a bit south- -I think RedBank- -very hip little town with a urban feel

Further south?- - unless it was on the beach ,and just for the summer- -I would stay north

The thing about towns is it depends on what you want you want out of a town. Sure, a town like Wyckoff has orgasmic school system (like if your children breathe the air in Wyckoff public schools they will probably have a higher IQ) but not much in terms of a downtown or walkability. Walkable towns typically have something that is known as diversity. That can be a scary thing, specially if you have children and don't want them to be around that kind of element (because being indoors with their Playstation or IPad is so much healthier) or congestion, I certainly do not want to breathe in emissions from a 1997 Caravan while wearing my all too revealing UnderArmour jogging gear when I could be breathing in something more trendy like a Land Rover LR4...anyway, I am rambling..the point is, it comes down to whether you want to eat Blue Moon Mexican food or some Zagat rated hole in the wall with questionable health department ratings.

Hmmm...That sounds rather messy.
Is there any provision for clean-up?

OK, now enough of this stupid gibberish. I can see the direction this thread is heading in.

Since no one else asked, what is your budget? And what sort of space do you need?
