As much as I like his overall politics and persona, I really get the sense that he doesn't care (at best) about the northern part of the state and am ready to see him move on -- whether that's to the Presidency or just out of office whatever, if he keeps screwing the suburbs of NYC on transportation issues that overwhelms the good he is otherwise doing, at least from my perspective.
I don't know whether or not he will be president. There is one thing I do know and that is if he does not become president, it won't be because of this. First, I don't think enough people care. Especially people outside of the NJ/NY area, mostly who have not even heard about it. Second, it is way to early. People will have forgotten about this long before the election. If it happened 2 years from now, maybe it would have an impact, but definitely not now.

It's kind of bizarre since he grew up & lives up north. If you follow NJ politics, governors have to kiss the ring of S. Jersey Democratic powerbroker George Norcross. I think that's one reason why Gov. threw his weight behind a failed concept known as Atlantic City. He says he wants 5 yrs to see if he can turn it around. Anyone with eyes knows that AC has already lost to the casinos that now encircle NJ like atttacking Indians...PA, NYC, Delaware. I saw an article this week about putting slots at the Meadowlands racetrack. Of course everyone around Christie hems & haws and says "let's see if AC turns it around." Really? At least with a racino we'd keep revenue IN STATE instead of people going to NYC or PA. Money's money - as long as we try to keep it here.

That typa stuff comes back, when ur in politics, nobody just forgets. The media will cover it for sure, he wont become president cuz hes too fat tho, i dont know why hes fat still, seems like that surgery is not working.
I'm sure 99.9% of all candidates who ever run for president would be thrilled if this is the "smoking gun" that gets brought up during the election. No one is going to care.

Judging from your writing style, I am guessing that I have seen a few more elections than you have. Anything this early that doesn't involve sex or murder becomes a mere footnote by the time the election rolls around. Once something gets played out, people get tired of hearing about it and it just becomes white noise later on. The primaries are when a candidate really has to worry. That is the true vetting time. Any NEW revelations that occur during the primary will kill a candidate. Opponents purposely try to conceal scandals until the primary. Best to get them out of the way now if you can.

When this incident is added to the information contained in the recently-published book, Double Down, it just may create enough negativity to limit CC's chances of even getting the nomination.
That book, which the authors were careful to release after the recent Gubernatorial election, contains info that was leaked to them by a former member of Romney's campaign staff. The book relates that dealing with CC and his staff was very unpleasant for Romney's people, and there was apparently mutual loathing on both sides while Romney was considering naming CC as his running mate. As one reviewer of the book said, "Delivering the documents to the authors was a stunning breach of political decorum that can only be read as a giant middle finger at Christie and his aides".
According to the book, Romney's team was "shaken" by the "garish controversies" in CC's past, including:
A Justice Department investigation into his free-spending ways as the US Attorney for NJ
His habit of steering government contracts to friends and political allies
A defamation lawsuit that emerged during a 1994 run for local office
A politically problematic lobbying career that included work on behalf of Bernie Madoff's firm
There are few creatures that the American public dislikes more than lobbyists, but most people in NJ seem to be unaware that CC's law career prior to being named US Attorney consisted solely of lobbying. If so few NJ residents are aware of this, it stands to reason that very few folks outside of NJ know about this part of his resume, but...you can be sure that it will be publicized if and when he runs for POTUS, and I don't think that this will be considered to be a good thing by the folks in the hinterlands.
How do you know what C.C. knew & didn't know? This investigation is ongoing. We already know his minions lied when they said it was for a "traffic study." According to the WSJ he also called Gov. Cuomo to ask him to intervene with the PA director to "ease off" the investigation. Why should he? He owes C.C. nothing and this whole episode makes his agency look ridiculous. He must be thinking "those fake tough guys over in Jersey are making my life difficult." I'd be PO'd as hell that these Christie appointees pulled such a move.
its just my guess, i dont know and i doubt an investigation will be helpful in finding out the truth. im pretty sure christie can protect himself from this even if he did make the call. it would be great if he could be caught and punished for it; but we all know there is no accountability in government.
That's kinda creepy. I bet C.C. would like this goofball to take a looong vacation.
