You combine that with the state telling people who pay the most money in the country to live in what was once a nice community that they have to import the trash from other parts of the states and let them live there for free, and people with the means will just leave. Oh yeah, and crime is getting out of control with almost no penalties for violent crime and no way for decent people to defend themselves. You really can't run a state into the ground any harder than this. California eat your heart out.
would you please run for Governor!

We must cut property taxes in this state. Teachers make way too much money here.

Maybe, but we got great pizza.

And, based upon convictions alone, the best political corruption that money can buy.

The average teacher makes between $62-65,000. The average cop is above $92,000. There are many more teachers than cops and that is why teachers face the brunt of the resentment.

Before we hear but their benefits are so great- they pay up to 30% of their health care premium and 7% toward their pension. They also pay social security on top of that.
A new teacher has an retirement age of 65 not 55 for someone hired years ago.

I will verify the age and post a link to the new retirement rules.

Among those I talk to about this it isn't the teachers, it's the layers of so-called high priced "administrative" personell that add to the high costs.

Check out the number of >$100k admin types in Newark's central district office alone.
