My wife will be commuting from Springfield, NJ to Columbia University (UWS, 120th and Broadway).

I take the 114 bus into Port Authority. She could do that as well, and then take the red line.

The thing is, she needs to be able to go in/out as quickly as possible, and I'm not sure the 114 is going to be the fastest way.

Other options include driving in (Lincoln Tunnel or GWB). Otherwise, maybe she can park at the Secaucus Junction train station and go in that way.

I have seen others recommend driving to Newark Penn Station and taking a train (PATH?).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bumping this. Does anyone know which option is better - taking the train from Newark Penn Station or from Secaucus Junction? Is there any parking by Newark Penn Station?

I use to commute to Columbia from Bloomfield NJ. You can either drive to a train station and take the Morris & Essex Line to Penn Station NY and then the 1 train uptown to Columbia. Not sure if Secaucus or Newark would be the better option. Secaucus is certainly closer being only a 10 minute train ride from Penn Station NY.

Thanks. I think the parking will be the issue. Most of these stations have very limited parking for which you need a town permit.

There are garages near Newark Penn, it's cheaper than Secaucus parking which has gotten unreal. But driving into Newark is a pain and the train ride is longer. Depending on the timing (and the governor's antics) driving over the GWB might work; I don't know what parking is like near Columbia.

Yea really comes down to timing. If shes traveling during non rush hour times, driving might be the easiest.

Does anyone know anything about the GWB bus terminal? There is a 182 bus from Fort Lee that goes there.
Does anyone have any info on where to park to pick up this bus? Does it get to use an express/bus lane to cross the bridge?
