Hello,
Was wondering if someone would be able to help me figure what would be the best and maybe easiest way to get into Manhattan from Parsippany?
We are staying the night there and will be going to Manhattan on Saturday morning….(7 or 8am)
I was thinking driving to Newark Penn Station then taking the train into Manhattan but looks like it’s hard to get a parking.
I don’t care driving as my company is paying for the gas but don’t really feel like driving in bumper to bumper traffic.
So for someone that has no idea where the hell they are going and doesn’t know much about the NJ transit and the Path trains what would be the easiest way to get to Manhattan?
I’ve read things about Hoboken but I’m worried about parking and traffic…..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lakeland Bus: Lakeland Bus Lines (http://www.lakelandbus.com/BusSched.html - broken link)

Get on/off at a bus stop along 46.

Lakeland Bus as mentioned above. If you want to take the PATH train, forget about driving or parking in Hoboken, too congested there. Drive I-280 to Harrison, park there and take the PATH from there.

Seconded. There's already huge number of people commuting from and to Hoboken and also using the Lincoln tunnel so you'll be jammed up in traffic on the way and back from your drive to Hoboken.

Only exception is if you work odd hours and not during the normal 9-5 routine.

Drive to the train station in Milburn and take the midtown direct right into Manhattan.

The thing is that there is often a lot of congestion getting into the bus lane, since buses from all over the state use that bus lane. I see it whenever I take the X17J bus from Staten Island.

To the OP: Driving to Harrison and taking the PATH would be the cheapest way. For the most stress-free way, you can drive to Bontoon and take a Midtown Direct train (or you can go to Dover, Morristown, or Summit for more frequent service), or you can drive to Route 46 and take the bus to NYC.

Used to park in the Park & Ride lot (free parking) at Rte 46 and Reynolds. Bought ticket for Lakeland Bus in small bodega in the shopping plaza across from the lot and caught bus right in front of the Park & Ride on Rte 46 East.
