I didn't want to be descriptive with the title and this just sounded more inviting. Sorry for the "clickbait" but I need some advice. Well, not need, I would like some opinions from you guys if that is okay.

I got my teaching certificate back in May and had one job interview at East Orange High School. I didn't hear from them when summer ended, but managed to get a day-to-day substitute teacher position at a charter school in Jersey City.

They hire from within, and last year, three of the teachers were substitute teachers. The Dean told me maybe next year I could teach.

I've been there for about two weeks now. I like it. Kids are alright.

This morning, East Orange emails me asking if I am still interested in the position.

To me, it makes sense to take the position at East Orange HS.

My brother said stick with Jersey City since that's where I've always wanted to live anyway.

My mom, who teaches, says to bide my time in J.C and that E.O is a dangerous place and there's a reason why the previous teacher quit.

I really figured my mom would go with the salaried position where I have my own room and have a chance, no matter how small, at tenure.

To me, E.O makes sense.

I'd like some other opinions though!

That's what I would do. It's one road to get there and ten miles.

I'm just wondering if you guys think East Orange being...East Orange makes it the less attractive option.

And right now I live in Central NJ, but have been meaning to move to J.C for a while now. I lived there back in the 90s and visit a lot. I'm there all the time now because of the job, but before that, I was there every weekend. I was just never in a position to move there until the 9 to 5 subbing position.
