So I was looking at some properties near the Hazlet train station and asked my broker to find more info about them. I was surprised when my broker came back and told me that they require flood insurance. I checked with floodsmart.gov and the houses are located in a Special Flood Hazard area and poses a high risk.

I checked google maps and the train station area is nowhere near the ocean. I do see a small stream running behind the homes. Is this why its a flood hazard area? I would never have thought that the area near the train station was flood prone.

Which other areas of Hazlet are subject to flooding?
Thanks

Not all areas in Hazlet are flood prone. You need to check the FEMA maps and research it yourself to make sure. Make sure its the new updated maps, after Hurricane Sandy hit.
