Most of the time, unless I had seen it myself or it's one of those "hang em high" emotional crimes I'd vote not guilty unless the accused wanted to confess to everyone and admit guilt.
you're making the captain's point stronger.

I know people don't like my point but its pretty obvious that I want to improve on the system, im not looking for anarchy or just voting "not guilty" or "guilty" for everything. my limited experience seeing a jury in action was a civil case, so freedom wasn't an issue, just money. but once i saw those geniuses and learned of their individual input after the case was over, i think you would be nuts to think it makes sense to let random idiots make important decisions.

It's really not the jury that should worry you. How about the lawyers?

I was on jury duty in 2011 for a forgery case. This guy was the prosecutor. I remember thinking during his opening statement, "Gee, this guy is a little overdramatic".

Your point is not nuts. But I didn't think you had a lot of trust in the government. And now you want people to have government jobs as jurors. I suspect you'd soon have misgivings about who these "professional" jurors are.

i think we definitely need to be careful of who we choose and we should have appropriate checks to ensure their decisions are made properly. im no lover of government but i do understand that a limited government is necessary. i think people that are deciding on other people's freedom shouldn't just be randomly picked out of a hat.

I hope you will need a jury soon. It's hilarious that you think you are just so smart.

I got my 2nd notice and just like the last time i got out of it without even trying. I really dont know why some have such an issue with needing an excuse to get out of it. I just use the 100% proof way of doing it. The courts dont want a smart or educated people on jury duty and the only ones that get stuck failed a basic IQ test. The 100% fool proof way to get out of it with zero resistance is to threaten with Jury Nullification. Jury Nullification is that nice little law they dont want you to know about as it allows you the jury to ignore whatever laws on the books and find the person not guilty regardless of what proof or evidence the state has.

In my reply i just say "I dont care if 100 people saw that person gun down the cop .. i will nullify"

and then i will include this

The Right to Forcefully Resist Unlawful Arrest (using deadly force, if necessary) | Cop Block

"“Each person has the right to resist an unlawful arrest. In such a case, the person attempting the arrest stands in the position of a wrongdoer and may be resisted by the use of force, as in self- defense.” (State v. Mobley, 240 N.C. 476, 83 S.E. 2d 100).
“One may come to the aid of another being unlawfully arrested, just as he may where one is being assaulted, molested, raped or kidnapped. Thus it is not an offense to liberate one from the unlawful custody of an officer, even though he may have submitted to such custody, without resistance.” (Adams v. State, 121 Ga. 16, 48 S.E. 910)"

You would think with the amount of anti gov stuff i reply back with they would just remove me from ever being selected again but they dont.

As for why i dont want to do it ? Lawyers, judges and everyone else are paid thousands of dollars , there yet the ones that control the outcome are paid a lousy 5 dollars a day.
Well you could commit capital murder.

Seems like you're describing a judge. Want the decision in their hands? Or small panel of judges? They already decide lots of legal cases that don't require juries.

im not really prepared to give a definitive answer on what I think is best. but a judge, panel of judges, panel of trained jurors or something along those lines would be options. never would I consider "panel of random citizens" to be a good option.

I had similar thoughts, but not as extreme. Pleading guilty to any felony should suffice, no?
