I am moving to northern new jersey and wanted to get some input on the areas. We are looking for a nice neighborhood with low crime and good schools. We would like a nice downtown area with cute shops and good restaurants. I would also like to join a country club and am curious how difficult this would be (waiting period, etc.).
Our home purchase will be around the $850K mark and our family income is around $310K/yr give or take.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance to everybody.
my brother in law lives in montvale.not sure about the country club but the town and schools are in the realm of what you describe. it is also the last exit on the parkway before ny.
Northern is kind of a broad spectrum, any specific county/counties?
I am currently thinking Essex or Union counties. I have a choice of working in Secaucus or Little Falls. I will work from home 2 or 3 days a week. We want to be close enough to go to the city on weekends. NYC is one of the world's cities. It's like living outside of Paris or London! I know there will be congestion, etc., but that seems like a price worth paying for this experience. NYC may be the best city in the world. I hope everybody who lives in the area takes full advantage. We can't wait.
I would also suggest Montclair, but make sure you buy in Upper Montclair. I would also look into Verona, North Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Glen Ridge, Essex Fells, and maybe Montville, although its a little further up route 46.
As for country clubs, there are PLENTY to choose from here.
I second Ridgewood, commute won't be to bad if you work in little falls, especially if you work from home 2 or 3 days a week. Wayne is also an option, and its pretty much right next to little falls.
