Hi -
I am looking for some apartments near the Edison train station (I would be commuting to work at NYC). The apartments look really good - but am mostly concerned about the public transportation near the same.

There seems to be some good apartments near the carlton club drive in Piscataway NJ. Do anybody know the best public transportation from there to any one of the NJ transit stations so that I can hop onto work to NYC everyday.

Added: I do have a car . But I am looking for better parking options near the NJ Transit stations. I don;t have a permit now and if you can let me know some good parking options near the station - it would be great.

I assume you don't have access to a car to drive to the station? You may be better off looking in some of the apartments in Edison along Stelton. Edison runs a shuttle to the train station. I don't know if Piscataway does, I don't believe it does though.

From what I know (I drive so i could be completely wrong), Piscataway is a bad place to be without a car, although you could try hopping on the Rutgers Busch buses in Piscataway to get all the way to the New Brunswick train station for free! (Just kidding!) New Brunswick is much better for non-car commuters. Trains to NYC and elsewhere.

I live in P-way. You are right. There are NJ Transit train stations in < 10 minutes driving distance from any part of Piscataway, but certainly no way to get to them unless you have a car or are up for a walk.

New Brunswick is good for commuters, as is Edison. Edison has a shuttle that goes from many apartment complexes to the train station.

Actually I do have a car - But my concern is about parking near one of the train stations. I am moving into NJ - so I don;t have any parking permits at any of the stations. If I were to drive - do you know where I could park nearby - (Metropark / Edison ) etc ???

Near Edison, you can park on the street on Kilmer Road. But you have to get there very early (before 630?).

Alternatively, use the Raritan Valley line. The Carlton Club apartments are not far from Dunellen and there is no waiting period for a parking permit there. The drawbacks are fewer off-peak trains and you have to change to Newark Penn to go on to NYC.

This is great. What about the safety of the cars at Dunellen ??? Can anyone let me know about the same ...

Why can't you park in one of the 80 office complexes in metro park. Only a few of them require a parking permit. I know the building at 170 Wood Avenue don't require permits to park and you'd only have to walk 1 or 2 short blocks to the train.

I've parked my car there many times. Always during the regular workday, though. No problems.

Thanks. Just curious - would not the car be towed if I were to park in the office complexes. Also how busy would the traffic be in the morning on 529 / 509 and 27 in the mornings during commute
