Thanks for sharing my post. I know if I post it on here, I would get attacked for wanting to pump up the Ironbound.
I lived in the Ironbound for 8 years. While I was glad to move away, I guess it needs residents like you who care about the community. Kudos to you for that. I think that the cops should do a better job. Crime is still an issue and it seems like the handful of times I needed police assistance, they were pretty apathetic. Two of those times were 911 calls where they didn't bother to show up to help someone in need who was unconscious in the middle of the street. I hope that this changes. I don't see Ras Baraka giving a hoot about the Ironbound either.
I think that the best restaurants in the country are in the Ironbound. I have lived in a few places and restaurants don't compare to some of these places that the Ironbound has to offer (Iberia being the exception, lol... What a crappy, overpriced place.)
Thanks for posting those pictures of those plans. Although I dont really trust Amador, I am glad to see that he is involved in bettering Newark. I am glad that they are (still) trying to revitalize and gentrify that area. I don't think it will ever turn into what Hoboken or JC have become but I'd still pick the Ironbound over those other cities.
Btw are you Portuguese oe Brazilian?

I'm Portuguese, born here, parents came over in the early 1960s. Policing will get better once the community changes. Newark being a sanctuary city has caused a lot of the problems. People are scared to get involved to call the police when they see a crime. The hipsters are coming, I already see it.
The food is the best and well priced. I work just outside of Morristown (near Bernardsville) and the food is overpriced crap.
Fantastic! Just out of curiosity, do you know what the voter turnout is at these elections? Would you happen to know what the percentage of eligible voters turn out to the polls to vote in these types of elections in the Ironbound?

It's terrible. I believe we have approximately 12,000-15,000 registered voters out of 50-55k residents. The last election was a mayoral and councilman election and only a little over 4,000 showed up. That's less than 10% of the community.
For this election, I would imagine even less than 4,000 people will show up because it is not a big ticket election. I'd say 1,000-2,000 will show up in the east ward.
