Question about mail - Living in two states (insurance, house)

After 8 loooooong yrs in SC, I'm finally moving back to NJ for part of the year, hopefully most of the year.
For those who live in two states - snowbirds? I think people say when referring to FL winters and Northeast the rest of the year dwellers.
How do you handle the mail delivery and getting it to you the fastest way?
I know it can be forwarded but doesn't that delay it by several days at least?
Open to suggestions. I get many RX from mail away insurance program and worried about them getting lost or getting to me very delayed. Most bills paid online so not worried about that so much.

We use the free service the PO offers by filling out the form on-line for temporary change of address. If you use that make sure you select "family" so everyone in the house gets their mail forwarded otherwise they will only forward the person that fills out the form. The mail was delayed anywhere from one to two weeks. The service you pay for ($17/wk) ships the mail out in batches so it's not that much better and a lot more expensive.

The other thing you could do is see if the RX will mail to the location where you are. My husband had need for an RX refill on a monthly basis and they would just ship to where we were.

I generally stop the forward and put the mail on hold 2 weeks before we are leaving and forward the mail from where we are a couple of days before we leave.
