Not sure what you mean by "repurposed"? Valley is there and a good all around hospital w/ health network.

My apologies, I should have done a search before I posted on something I was not familiar with. MQ was right, I did hear about the expansion but I thought I heard they were going to use the Ridgewood facility as something else. ...........
Thank you for your response! I keep looking at other bergen towns to broaden the possibility of moving (given inventory is so low) and now including Oradell. But I appreciate any advice on Bergen. My husband just doesnt want an area with too many steep hills...kinda agree on that one

The Heights section of Ridgewood is the only part with steep hills (but views of Manhattan). Holmdel is pretty flat, as is most of the eastern Monmouth coastal area.
You don't mention commute. If going to NYC, Ridgewood would be much preferable, imo. If commute isn't part of the equation, then it just comes down to personal preference with Ridgewood having the great downtown, some walkability and the nice, older housing stock, and Holmdel having newer homes on larger lots while being closer to the shore.
I would think the commute from Holmdel to Wall Street/Holland Tunnel is equal in the morning compared to Ridgewood. I know its more mileage but time spent commuting probably very similar. The one huge advantage of Holmdel is the parkway runs right thru it. You get to skip route 9 and hop right onto the GSP.

Yeah, and then you can sit in that stop-and-go traffic.
The Ridgewood trains are frequent and reliable, and Ridgewood is closer to Manhattan.
