True. I actually looked up the etymology of townhouse, and from 1825, it means a residence in a town as opposed to the country, but it's not used for an attached residence, or row house, until 1968.
"Townhome" showed up about 10 or 15 years ago, not long after RE agents started saying they were selling "homes" instead of "houses". I remember rolling my eyes over that one.
Referring to the structure as a home instead of a house was once considered gauche.
Language changes, but I don't have to like it.
