We don't need any lights during the day. We have motion lights on all of our outdoor lights and it is so much easier to never have to think about them. I would never remember to turn them on or off. CF bulbs just about everywhere. The only place not are in some of the outdoor spot lights that only go on for a few minutes at a time. The AC goes down to 70 at night and up to 75 or off during the day. This is our first summer with central AC so we're still figuring out what we like.

I turn my lights off when I leave the room. Not specifically to save energy, but just because it seems silly to leave it on if I don't need it.
I don't undestand, and never have, why people have difficulty with that. But apparently people do, as my wife & kids can't seem to manage it. I feel I'm becoming my father, walking around the house in the evening, turning off lights in empty rooms.

you make me laugh. i think of my parents fighting about it every day. my mother turning and leaving every light on in her wake, and he going behind her yelling about why are the lights on when she is not even in here--lol
i do the same as you, just walk out and shut the light on my way.

No ac with 4 days of 95 degrees, hazy, hot and humid is tough Cu. I don't envy you. The dog must stay in your basement because mine is suffering already and it's only 85. I would suggest 1 window unit for 200 bucks in at least one room. Your call, I just turned on our units and set them at 74.

we had a 5000 BTU unit in our rental and got the bedroom quite cold. 99 bucks.

we went to the garden center this morning and brought the dog and i left all of the windows down in the car. my wife was like OMG THE DOG IS GOING TO DIE and i said look she is not dumb, if she's too hot she'll jump out sure enough a minute later she was wandering around looking for us. hehe. so now she'll have to stay home in the A/C
