My family and I are thinking of moving to eatontown or a town around there. We are coming from NH and very unfamiliar with the area. Any help with schools, real estate agents cost of living? Thanks for any help.

what about ocean twp? the schools are good and it's a terrific town to raise a family. I grew up there and feel I had a good education and made some friends for life.
I would definitely check it out

Icksnay on Eatontown. Like the other posters said, try Ocean Twp or Tinton Falls.
Eatontown has always been kind of cootie-ville to me. I am allowed to say that because I am from Highlands, NJ: The KING of cooty-towns (Next to Keansburg, Union Beach and Keyport) LOL!

LOVE,
Shanny

I also recommend Ocean Township. There are 3 towns that all are a part of Ocean -
Wayside - Oakhurst - Wanamassa. All good. All go to their own elementary schools, then come together for Junior High - then off to the High School.

I wouldn't say Eatontown is bad. I would say that Ocean is better though. If your on a lower budget look in Eatontown. I wouldn't suggest Long Branch. If you want to go a little further south, you could also look in Farmingdale or Howell.

Good luck.

Ocean and Tinton Falls have better school systems. What about Oceanport or Shrewsbury as well ?

I think you're referring to the little area located on Shrewsbury Avenue... and yes, you're right with your description. However, I think that's called "Shrewsbury Township". There's other parts of Shrewsbury that are quite nice. Not sure about the school system, though. I've heard better about Ocean Township. Moving a little north I recommend Middletown. Moving a little west I recommend Freehold or Manalapan.

Yeah Shrewsbury is most certainly NOT Tinton Falls...Look at Shrewsbury Boro - it is a nice area & the schools are very good.

I also agree that I would try Ocean Township over Eatontown or even Tinton Falls. Also Oceanport was a good suggestion as well.

The only information I can give about Eatontown is that keep in mind that this is where Fort Monmouth is housed and is going to close come 2011. Much in the area will be affected due to the base's closure as far as the immediate area's economy and such as MANY residents that work at the Fort live in Eatontown..........so keep in mind that the base's closure will have a bit of a change on the town, at least this is what I read.
