My 4 day break is over. Wifey ORDERED me to put it back on. The meter is spinning back to its summer marathon AGAIN.

My A/C is hardly running today... I've been using the ceiling fans as well..supposedly saves you 40%! Well if the decrease is any result from the minor adjustments I made this month..it'll be the norm. from now on . What do you think about candles vs. lights being on at night? Reverting back to Little House on the Prairie days

I just called JCP&L and there are two different kinds of meters - flat rate and time of day. If you have a time of day meter there are off peak hours between 9pm and 9am weekdays and all day Sat & Sun. When I get my first bill I'm going to see if it would be worth it for me to switch my meter to a time of day. But for anyone who already has that type of meter you could save some cash by adjusting your laundry and dishwashing times to the off peak hours. I foolishly forgot to ask how much the charge is per kilowatt hour on a flat rate basis but for time of day off peak is 13 cents, peak is 26 cents. The monthly (delivery?) fee is 5.28 instead of 2.20 if you go with that type of meter. They suggested doing your own meter reading at 9pm and 9am to see when you use the most. She also said that most people revert back to using more during peak times but I'm not sure I'm buying that.

Ouch.....we run the AC pretty constantly because I like it cold- but even with the downstairs set at 74 and the upstairs at 73, our power bill over the last few months has barely broken $200. I'm wondering if it's the rates or the fact that the house is new and well-insulated. Any idea what cost per kwh is up there nowadays?

LMAO! If that's the case he should have no problem paying the bills! LOL

I literally almost choked when he told me - and then he promptly blamed it on his wife who likes to keep the house like a meat locker. Mine was $314 last month (Wiley, I originally told you my bill was somewhere around $160, but got the latest bill a week or two later ) and I almost cried.

I told my husband today that we're not turning the heat on until November.
