Start in South Jersey. Outside of that, good luck.

This sadly is the truth.

As a buyer, I would say that you need to determine what part of NJ you need to be in and what is important to you (schools, type of area, etc.).

Isn't everyone looking for this??
Sussex County might work for you - is there a specific area you are looking for?

Usually, I would say Newton, or Hackettstown..........Vute towns and neighborhoods.
But, if those homes are too high I'd have to suggest a location in Hopatcong.

I'd go south jersey. Southwest I think provides the most affordable housing (bang for your buck), but not sure about the schools. I grew up in Lacey, good schools, good taxes because of the nuclear power plant, very nice town to grow up in as a kid. Still have plenty of friends who have remained. Close to Barnegat Bay and Long Beach Island, 3 lakes in town (4 if you count Bamber) to swim.
