Hope someone from South Jersey can help. My family and I are moving back to NJ from the south. It's been about 5 years, and I understand things have changed quite a bit. We would like to move to the Mantua and surrounding areas. We do have 2 kids in elementary school moving towards Junior high. Can anyone offer advice to these areas??? Schools, People, Real Estate ? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Well, for one thing- housing is quite a bit more. Manuta and Woodbury areas are ok, but pricey. It would depend on what you were looking to spend on housing and what types of jobs you have.

Where are you coming from?

We are coming back from Memphis TN, we lived in Marlton area until 2001. How do those areas compare now to Marlton, Cherry Hill in regards to price, People and congestion???

Personally I think all of those areas are crowded and congested. I suppose that is a subjective topic.

The prices are seemed to have just about doubled everywhere. I would say the minium you could buy a home in any of those areas would be $375-400. I may be slightly off-

Good Luck. PM me if I can help further.

The AVERAGE price of housing when you were here was $162,000 (Manuta Twp) It is currently $240,000. There has been a growth explosion in Harrision and Woolwich and these southerly areas have even more drastic price increase. A lot of younger families have moved to that area and traffic is more hectic on the 322 corrador. Mantua, Wenonah, Woodbury areas have not seen too much growth and I think you will find the not too much has changed here (new park, drug stores-they are EVERYWHERE, new grocery store, Clearview expanded). West Deptford and Deptford have had average growth but the mall area has expanded. Due to the growth in Harrision/Woolwich this area has been affected (since it is the closest mall). In terms of what areas would be best would be determined by what you are looking for. Do you want neighborhood with sidewalks or would you like a more rural setting?
