You PAID for it. It is unemployment INSURANCE. You deserve it. And to boot it's not a handout.

I would much prefer to not pay into it and invest it myself but they don't seem to giving me a choice so if/when the time comes I would take it.

Well, you know 8 years is not really enough time to do much...other than start a war or two, plunge us into record debt, make us loathed by most of the world, destroy our economy.... there was a lot on his plate... be nice.

For the first time in my life I'm honestly worried that my children may not be able to live in the US. That they may have to leave to live comfortably or to get ahead. That's a very frightening prospect.

I am trying to relocate to North Carolina because of the way things are here in New Jersey, and sometimes I even think about leaving the US, too.

Isn't it sad? I would have never, ever thought that I'd want to leave the COUNTRY as a child or a young adult, but I give it serious thought these days.

Now based on your screen name, I'm assuming you are a nurse. How is the nursing field in NJ these days? Is it still pretty decent?

I know, but it's my pride that is destroyed, so I don't do well on the doll train.

On another note, I just made 458 dollars on eBay selling off all my worldly possessions.

Can't magine that a guy w/a sense of humor like yours will have a tough time getting back on his feet again. (I still chuckle at the "J-E-T-S" thingy you used to have under your username and some of your other off-color comments on this forum).
I did not read this entire thread, so I don't know what happened to you.
But I wish you lots of luck and success in whatever comes your way.
