What are those (ususally abandoned) small structures built into hillsides throughout Sussex County?

Typically about 6 x 6 feet and made of stone.

There is one in the hillside approx 1200 ft south of where adams dr hits 517 in Ogdensburg. This one is more intact. East side of rd.

There is remnants of one on 517 north of Ogdensburg. E side of road. Somewhat near Sterling Plaza.

Ice houses?
