We may have to relocate to the Princeton Area for my husbands job and I wanted to know what the best school systems are in that area and which should be avoided. What about Hopewell and Lawrence and Plainsboro?

Montgomery School system is excellent (recognized generally as one of the best in the state - HS ranked 1 or 2), part of Montgomery has a Princeton mailing address, so it's extremely close (10 min?), although it's in Somerset Cnty -vs- Mercer.

Hopewell-Pennington, West Windsor-Plainsboro, and Robbinsville have excellent school districts.

What do you mean by this? I'm looking to move to Plainsboro, and my 15 y.o. son will be entering 10th grade this September. He gets 75-80's on average in report cards, though his tests always come back in the 90's. His teachers say he has a lot of potential but no motivation. How would someone like my son fare in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school system? Sorry to take away from the forum, but just wondering what kind of pressure these kids face. Thanks.

Just really competitive maybe. Is Lawrence downgraded for a specific reason? Jon Stewart is a graduate of that school- I read he was third in his class.

KDKL,
I wouldn't worry about your son in the WW-P district, he will be fine.
What we have found (in our 18+ years here-through our daughters K-12th experience) is that the parents tend to feel the pressure more than the kids.
Is the expectation to be the "best you can be" here. Yes it is.
The kids in the district know who the "smartest" kids in school are-they are the ones with GPA's of 4.9.
Are they the most well rounded kids? Not usually.
What our daughter discovered, after a great HS experience, was that lots of good schools wanted her. She has also realized that she is one of the "smart" ones, now that she is away at school.
Make sure your son has a fun time in HS, he will experience the expectation.
OH, just to let you know, the kids are very accepting of new arrivals in the district.

Oh, I forgot to mention that her drive for excellence (that she learned in WW-P) has followed her through her University!

Of the towns you mention which are the best to live in... safety, sense of community, beauty (town, not the people!) Our children are in elementary school so we like things like town soccer, town easter egg hunts.... that sort of thing. And what exactly is wrong with Lawrence? Just a bad school system or does the town have other issues?
