Our family loves Knoebels - a great old-time, family owned amusement park. With young kids, I hate paying for the expensive park fees when they can't go on most of the rides. At Knoebels, there's lots of rides for them and I don't feel like I'm wasting my money.
Wow, I rode that thing continually as a kid at Hunt's Pier! As well as the Pirate Ship, the Himalaya, the flyer, the Scrambler and a host of other rides...What is Knoebels?
Knoebels is an old fashoned amusement park up near Bloomsburg PA many of their rides are older rides that they saved from the wrecking ball.
One of their roller coasters (The Phoenix) was moved there from a defunct amusement park in Texas (and they had it up and running in something like 6 months) and is one of the best wood coasters in the US according to people who rate that sort of thing.
we are heading out to knoebels this summer for a vacation. We have never been there so we can't wait..
We go there every year, it's awesome.
No admission, no parking fee, food is good and reasonable.
We went for an overniter and stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Danville. I think I took 400 bucks with me, and I wound up bringing money home LOL. And we were in that park for a good 2 solid days (open to close first day, open to about 5:00 second day)
I'm going to try and get out there twice this year.

How utterly COOL! I'm ashamed to say that I didn't even know about this place in my own state!! And in my young days I was such an amusement park enthusiast - how in the heck did I miss it?? Thanks for the info.
Years ago, it was easier to miss. You went there if you lived in the area. There were more small amusement parks (as you know) and every park sold tickets. Remember when Dorney was like that?

You're going to have a great time. There are trees, benches, and the park staff is very friendly. I absolutely love that time of day when all of the lights go on. Calliope music in the background, the clattering sound from the wooden coaster, splash! ...laughter from the people on the Flume. You have to do Boat Tag. I could spend more on that than a gambler could in AC.
You'll appreciate it Frank, the way they keep the older rides going. Make sure to take a couple rides on those old Lusse Auto Skooter bumper cars.. they are fantastic.

Def will Billl. The bumper cars are our Sons fav ride besides the coasters
