Can anyone offer me their personal opinion/experience with the View on the park, a nice luxury bldg in east orange? I am conflicted and not sure what to do. I had an appointment and the woman didn't show up, the next week I met with her 'Shellay" (sp?), she was rude, unenthusiastic, and the other 2 spanish women couldnt' speak english well and I heard that the staff members gossip about the tenants. The apt that i was shown was nice, however, the appliances were a bit old but the view is priceless and the rent is affordable. I heard the owner is horrible, cheap and charges exhorbitant late fees and their is constant turnover. Not sure what rumors to believe. Please if you can offer me your personal or if you know of someone else's personal experience please let me know. Note: I am not asking about the town of EO just this bldg.

Thank you.

Well, it seems that management has a pretty bad reputation, especially with regard to spending money to fix repairs. I don't think I should rent an apartment for 1595/mo and have an owner who will nickel and dime when it comes to making repairs.

Default View on the pArk

The views are beautiful, but the management is extremely unprofessional. Ms. Shellay Davis is one of the rudest women that work their. They gave her too much power and she is rude to the applicants. I to looked at an apartment and it was beautiful, but the people who showed the apartment did not show up twice for my apppointment prior. They do have a fast turnover and the management used to be really bad. I hear they have new people running it, but it still is not that great. The plan was to complete a 5 million dollar renovation (I saw this in the NY times) and remove the old problamatic tenants and replace with new. They still have not done that completely, but that's why they have so many empty apartments, because they did get rid of some of the people. They have nice affordable apartments at rpmdeveloment .com and it is across the street from the train station at Brick church and a shopping mall. you should try there Good Luck!!

As a resident of View on the park, I would have to agree with the comments regarding managment and the staff and would definitely NOT recommend this building. The owner, Ori, is disrespectful towards the tenants and his staff. It's amazing that people move in and one month later they notice the "culture" of the management which is very negative. He has an air about him and believes he is superior than the tenants and this attitude is also obvious with his staff. He's like the big white master and the tenants who pay 1500 -2000 month for rent are his slaves. He belittles tenants, talk about their personal business, makes sexual advances towards the women, uses vulgar language towards his staff and is just a complete poor excuse of a manager for that type of bldg. He reminds me of the type of landlord back in the day or actually they are still around, that believed black folks wasn't entitled to decent living and the type that if you were one day late, would come banging on your door. The building would be so much better off without him. It's really a shame that their are decent people in the building who are moving because of management. These are people with good paying jobs who are paying their rent but will not be disrespected and pay rent and get shappy repair work. He is pretty pathetic.

I live in the building and I must say it is a great place I never had not one issue with managment and i have been here for five years. Repairs are done fast the apartments are huge and the rent is not to high. the place has a new owner and he seems like a great guy, dont hate the man for doing his job.

Not sure where you come up with "don't hate the man for doing his job". As for me, NOT YOU, he isn't doing his job AND i've heard this from several other residents. My repairs are not done quickly, I have to make several reminder calls, cpnstant mistakes with regard to rent due. Granted your experience and mine and others are not the same. And I am moving.

beautifulaquarius,
I recently moved into the building and I LOVE IT!!!! I think they are under new management, because I have not seen anyone named Ori. I would definitely check it out for yourself...I believe you will not be sorry!

Iceking,

Thank you for your response but I decided against moving to view on the park. The negative feedback definitely outweighed the positive feedback that I received both online and offline and as a result I was unwilling to take a chance and move there. Glad your experience is good!
