BRANCHBURG — Two suspects in a Branchburg bank robbery are in custody, and one is still at large, according to police scanner reports, and an FBI agent who was shot when responding to the robbery has been airlifted to a hospital. The robbery reportedly occured sometime in the late morning at the PNC bank on Route 22 in Branchburg.
At 12:50 p.m., the state police helicopter reported observing a person fitting the description of the suspect at Route 28 and Stapleton Court, Branchburg.
The at-large suspect is described as a heavy-set black or Hispanic male, with a tear-drop tattoo near his right eye, possible carrying an assault rifle or handgun. He is wearing a tan, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and one shoe.
Police reports indicate that the supect might have ordered a sandwich in a Quick Chek on Route 22 in Branchburg before leaving on foot.
FBI, State and local police units have cordoned off a wide area in the hope of capturing the suspect.
The FBI agent was reportedly wounded when responding to the scene of the bank robbery, possibly with other members of an FBI SWAT team. The suspects were believed to be holding a hostage or hostages inside the bank.
Police briefly surrounded the Quick Chek before racing off to other locations. Police have issued a bulletin with the suspect's description to all police agencies in Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union, Essex and Warren counties.

Agent Bush may have been shot by friendly fire. When Francisco Herrera-Genaoas was captured today he reportedly begged to be shot and killed. His prayers were not answered ! This is not the first time that things went bad for the F.B.I. in a confrontation with bank robbers. The recreation of the Miami shootout in 1986 with bank robbers William Matix and Michael Platt is still shown in many police academys and when officers go for their yearly in service training. It's a great video that depicts how things can get real bad real fast. We all need to say a prayer for Bush and his family.
Rest in peace Agent Bush... you've made the world a safer place.
