Yet another Verizon phone has broke, and i went to the store in Paramus and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. That store has the worst customer service i have ever seen. Completely fed up with Verizon.

I was thinking about maybe going with Virgin Mobile. spend $50 for 1000 minutes (last until you use them), and then pay $10 a month for 1000 texts.

I very rarely use my cell phone to have long conversations so this would work out very nicely. Does anyone have any experience with the reception? I am a bit out there by Jersey standards

I would suggest checking online coverage maps for the other carriers.
I believe once you chosse a carrier they give you 2 weks to see if it works for you where you can get out of the deal if the coverage is a hassle.
Sprint used to have a $30 a monthe deal for everything but I heard the new CEO nixed that.
I think Boost mobile has a $50 a month unlimited deal.
Check into corp discounts if you work for a major company too. Some get 20% off each month.

And also, remember that companies like Virgin are virtual network operators. That means they simply lease bandwidth on another company's network. So when you buy Virgin, you're actually just using the network from Verizon, Sprint, ATT or T-Mo.

In my experience, Verizon actually has the most superior signal in all parts of New Jersey. I've had both ATT and Nextel and they were both terrible. I'm not sure if I've ever been without a signal in NJ with Verizon. The grass is always greener...

I've never had a reception problem with At&T and this includes the Islands & Mexico
If I need to call them it's very easy to get a polite LIVE person as well

I absolutely detest Verizon and their customer service or lack of is one of the reasons.

T-mobile is the worst of all carriers, by far. My company issued me a T-mobile blackberry for work and reception is terrible. I travel a lot for work and there are so many places where I get no reception at all. Even at my house in West Orange (a well populated area) I get very weak reception and often incoming and outgoing calls don't get completed.
