NJ.com just ranked Chatham School system as #1 in the state. Millburn is also very good. i believe they were ranked in the top 10. Its a win win if you ask me. Both are gorgeous towns with lovely people and great downtown areas.
The statement you are quoting was from 5 years ago. And I only made it in response to a poster who insisted that Chatham schools are better than Millburn schools. Personally, I don't think there is much of a difference between any schools ranked within 20 or 30 points of each other. But yes, this 1 time, 5 years later, Chatham did outrank Millburn. May be an anomaly, it is too soon to tell. Historically, Millburn is consistently in the top 3. Often ranked #1. Chatham bounces around, often not in the top 10. But again, a child will get a similar education in either town. Both towns are great, but I like Millburn better overall.
We are having to move from Brookline MA to NJ and one of the options we are looking at is Shorthills NJ; school district is a top criteria and niche.k12schools.org ranks Milburn as #2, Chatham as # 4. Work location is Jersey City and possibly might need to fly in-out a lot and Princeton is too far. Wee have two kids (13,9) and we are Indian. Brookline MA was incredibly diverse and we are looking at the following criteria-
-affordable houses
-diversity
-top school districts with options of academics and sports
I do know quite a few families in NJ; everyone seems clustered in Shorthills NJ or Princeton-West Windsor corridor.
The websites do give quite a few quantitative measures of comparison but I was looking for qualitative comments / commentary on good school district options in NJ and maybe specifically about Short Hills-Chatham
Chatham and Short Hills are in different counties; did you look at taxes?Yes, as other responders have said, Short Hills is more Jappy.. Chatham more diverse. I actually think that Chatham is more family oriented.

Chatham and Millburn have almost the same effective property tax rate, 1.7% and 1.8% respectively.
Also, neither town is particularly diverse. They are both over 80% white.
Millburn has more Asians than Chatham.
Millburn is also a lot more Jewish people than Chatham, that's what you were inferring with the "jappy" comment. But if the poster is coming from Brookline, MA, then they are used to that.

Who says that? I mean, really. (I know it wasn't you) SMH.
three replies over that? I use 80's words, sometimes 70's words, like "groovy" . Get over it.
