I am sure this question has been asked before , however, I am specifically interested not in the best place to live but best place for4-5 months say Jan. Thru April for a retired couple living in a large motor coach. So far I have zeroed in on Silver City , but, have never been there. I like the Santa Fe area but I presume it being too cold that time of year.

Silver City isn't the warmest place in the state... but it's close. Around TorC or Las Cruces would be warmer.

Although I personally wouldn't choose TorC, all of the southernmost towns at the lower elevations would be suitable choices: Deming, Lordsburg, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Roswell, Carlsbad, Hobbs.

My first choice would be Las Cruces. There are RV and trailer parks between Las Cruces and El Paso that would afford the best opportunities to partake of what both cities have to offer (including Juarez, MX).

Las Cruces or Alamogordo are good winter places.
