New Mexico has NEVER had a woman governor... but could that change this year?

So far three women have thrown their hat in the race. On the other hand 5 men.. but if you ask me, its time for a woman to lead!

- Lt. Gov, Diane Denish, Democrat
- Rep. Janice Arnold-Jones, Republican
- Susana Martinez, Republican

??? What do you think.

IME the women don't rise to power unless they think and act like men... so gender isn't really the important factor.

Just a couple of thoughts here: 1-I couldn't vote because I don't live in NM anymore, well I take that back, maybe I could and no one would ever know. Heck I still get things all the time that are sent to registered voters and we have been gone close to 2 years. 2-I wouldn't vote for a woman just because she is a female, but I would vote for one that I thought was qualified and shared my views.

First of all a woman does not have to act like a man. Diane Denish has never once acted "like a man" and look how far she has got.

Ok, to say you would not vote for a woman is just stupid. What a sexist comment if you ask me.
Seriously, its going to be between two women in this election.. doubt it all you want but these two women are way ahead in the polls respectively in their parties of candidates.

To clarify, what I meant was that they needed to think and act like the politicians that came before them (which are usually men). Nobody in this thread has said they wouldn't vote for a woman, and I frankly couldn't care less what a candidate's gender or race is. I look more for intelligence, honesty, and integrity with enough connections to actually effect positive change. It is an unusual (nearly impossible?) mix in higher level politics, unfortunately...

Well thats what i'm saying obviously polls show these two (Arnold Jones & Denish) ahead far, of anyone else in the polls... so they would be facing each other in the general. And yea there was a person who did say that.. but yea I do look in the same qualities.
