Feel like this was discussed before, and it didn't go anywhere that time either. I'm taking it was a grain of salt too. I'd love a rail system between LAF-BR-NO tbh. But as that article mentioned, we need to get serious about our existing infrastructure to support such a thing and people will have to willing to take accept that it will likely take a bit of tax money to accomplish this.

It's hard to do that when the country doesn't seem to care about it's failing infrastructure. The Calcasieu River Bridge wouldn't still be in complete shambles if it were in another 1st class country. Same with the Huey P. Long.
