Igor's on St. Charles at Jackson. It's also a laundromat! That make an awesome Bloody Mary!

The Abbey on lower Decatur.
Dark and nasty looking, always open, patio, live music sometimes, great jukebox, stripper hangout, used to have free food on Saturdays (but I haven't been lately - moved away)...

Isn't Finn McCool's a chain? Can't be a dive if it's a chain!

Finn McCool's is not a chain! Ha. It's a neighborhood bar owned by 2 couples from Ireland. SouthernBelleinUTAH - have you ever been on Banks Street? Pretty much any bar on the street is a dive. The only 'chain' on the street would be Mona's restaurant with a total of 3 locations in this city. Finn's has pool, shuffleboard, darts, fun bartenders, a great jukebox - very dark and always filled with colorful locals of all ages. There's a huge rugby following there as well. After the storm, when they finally opened, they served free drinks and food to the public. It was greatly appreciated to all of us who were rebuilding.

Oh brother, how bad is it that I didn't figure Igor's as a dive?! What exactly does that say about what I find as being acceptable. Shoot Parkway is swank in my book. Coop's is great, but go to DeJaVu at 3-4 AM and watch the drama of irate strippers unfold, (nothing like it).
Showing my age, but used to enjoy Nicks on Tulane Ave. back in the day. I was shocked to find out that Dad frequented the place back in the 40's and he was equally as shocked to hear it was still open. Then there was Walt's on Vets... Okay I'll stop before I get to the really bad ones and ya'll think I'm really, really freaky.
