Can someone tell me the reputation that Tulane University has locally and nationally, please? I understand that it is a top tier university, but would like any local or national opinions from those with a better feel.

Tulane is a great institution. In fact, New Orleans' fine universities are one of the city's main redeeming factors. Tulane is a well-respected university both in the the New Orleans area and in the state, as well as the rest of the south. Admissions are very competitive. Loyola University, which is next door, is a little less competitive, but still considered to be a pretty selective school.

Girl I am currently talking to goes there and loves it.
Another friend of mine is getting her masters there and another friend is a Phd of Chemistry there.

It's called "Harvard South" by many all over the country---that ought to answer your question.
