I have been looking for a job for the past 3 months and am getting nowhere! I have been using Craig's List and the NOLA.com to search, primarily for office, administrative or title company closing positions. Are there an other forums that may produce better results? I find with Craig's List and Monster.com most of the "jobs" are scams. Can you sense my frustration?! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

People aren't laying off but I'm looking too. Its tough out there everywhere (and NOLA unemployment is under 6%)

Jobs aren't that hard to get around New Orleans (we are an expanding city where people are transplanting from Atlanta & Texas right now)....please don't take this the wrong way, but, perhaps you need some polishing on your interview process?!?

Check out USAjobs. Do you see anything on this long list that seems promising?
USAJOBS - (http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/jobsearch.asp?q=&lid=2024&lid=17707&salmin=&salmax =&paygrademin=&paygrademax=&FedEmp=N&tm=&sort=rv&v w=d&brd=3876&ss=0&FedPub=Y&SUBMIT1.x=93&SUBMIT1.y= 3&SUBMIT1=Search+for+Jobs - broken link)

What about a state job?
: Louisiana Department of Civil Service : (http://www.dscs.state.la.us/jobseekers.asp - broken link)

How about searching academic institutions' websites like Tulane or Loyola to see if they're hiring?

If you are in NOLA (where employees are still desperately needed) and you cannot find a job...something is not right...

I've thought of that...being from the East Coast I can be a little abrasive! The problem seems to be in getting any type of response at all! Could be that I've been self employed for the last 5 years or that I don't have a degree or that I'm 50. Still, I am very good at what I do (administrative/real estate closer).
Thanks for the input.

I'm not looking for a bartending or waitressing job! Nor do I want to work at Rousse's, Wal Mart or any of those places!

Thanks for your reply though!

Don't mean to be insulting, but a lot of people find northerners who are "abrasive" to be unpleasant to be around. Maybe tone it down a notch or two? And IMHO, people who come off as demanding instead of asking, aren't likely to get a good response. Just trying to help, since you mentioned it yourself.

Some of us are from here and having a hard time lately. Like I said before people aren't getting laid off too often, but yiu fax or email resumes with no calls back. That's why I'm going to Wednesday at the Square....networking.
