I interviewed the first week of Nov and received a rejection letter on Friday stating that I did not turn in my savings account information. That is actually inaccurate and I will be appealing and resubmitting the required information once more.

How did the managing company know you didn't submit the saving's account verification information? Did you forget or was it lost during submission of paperwork? Unless the savings account is closed, they want everything!

Waiting-game, as someone who hasn't had a savings account in years, that rejection letter worries me. How would I possibly prove that I don't have any savings account with any bank? I really hope they don't start sending out arbitrary rejection letters to qualified applicants the way they seemed to for 461 Dean (that forum is filled with horror stories).

I actually really like 535 Carlton from what I know about the building. Rooftop garden, bike storage, the brick exterior sort of helps it blend in with the surrounding historic neighborhood, the pictures I've seen so far make the living spaces seem fairly spacious, etc. I also am definitely applying to 1040 Dean because THOSE WINDOWS. Affordable Housing Brooklyn: Lottery Opens for 1040 Dean Street | Brownstoner

Log #3,XXX, I live in CB 8. Did intake interview in early November. Crossing my fingers so hard for one of these two to work out. My current landlord just raised the rent again but still manages to never fix anything broken in the building (including the front door). Time to plan my exit.

I wish we could qualify for 1040 Dean, we only fit into the middle income bracket. Our log # is 8## with community board preference so this MAY be our only hope even though we did apply to 38 sixth since we can apply to that. The waiting game is so nerve wracking. We need to move by April/May the latest or we may be forced to move back in with family which is NOT what we want to do as a new married couple. If this Lotto doesnt fall through I don't know if we can afford a market rate apt talk in our current neighborhood (Bed Stuy) since rents have gone the roof since we moved here. talk about having all our eggs in one basket..

Crown.. don't worry about NOT having a savings account (for these lotteries anyway). Many people do not and just have checking accounts. Many of us wouldn't be in these lotteries if we had savings accounts to be honest since we are pretty much paying most of our check to market rate rents. Savings accounts are linked to social security numbers so they will find out any accounts you have via your social security number thought BankChex i think (?) something like that.

Elle, I too was disappointed when I saw the income bands for 1040 Dean. But at least it gives the naysayers who are claiming that it's only middle and upper middle income people being catered to do in the Pacific Park megadevelopment something to eat crow about.

This is true even though I feel that 461 Dean has a decent amount for the low income but most of the other ones are skewed for the middle and upper middle.

Sorry guys for not getting back ASAP. I received a rejection letter because of credit history. I have my appeal hearing tomorrow. I explained I need to know exactly what it is about my credit history that disqualifies me! Tell only thing that is on my credit report is my student loans which are deferred because I am still in school. I have no credit cards I like spending my own money, my cell phone bill and, internet service in my name so I need a more indepth answer besides a checked box that says credit history!! I need to understand how do they send out a rejection letter with just a box checked but no details... I guess I will find out Wednesday after work.
To everyone else good luck.

I find it ironic because I also interview the first week of November and received my rejection letter on Friday because of a credit history!! Which left me baffled and checking my credit. I have my appeal hearing on Wednesday. I have CB preference and Municipal Employee preference I'm starting to think I'm just being put through the process for nothing because they probably had no intentions of offering an apartment.

Really sorry to hear. I have a question...didnt management run your credit first? Did your file get sent to the city and they ssent you the rejection or did the rejection come from management themselves?

Yeah, they usually run your credit BEFORE sending to HPD. So to have them come back and say credit was an issue seems weird. If this thread becomes another redux of the 461 thread... oooof. it's going to months and months of conflicting information from regular posters and total randos.
