I was selected to be interviewed for an apartment in a new building currently under construction, located at 3160 Park Ave., in the Bronx. Based on my income, i am looking to pay about $1208 for a one bedroom. I welcome any information you can provide about the neighborhood and surrounding area. I like to live within my means so I am not into famous zip codes or trendy neighborhoods.

I was selected to interview for this lottery as well, but I just moved into another lottery building (Compass) this past July. I fall in the "higher" income bracket as well, paying 1208 for a 1 bedroom.

OP do you live in the BX? Or nearby the development? I knew I would prob. be selected for this lottery because I am in CB3 and when the log number posted it was kinda low/reasonable (7XXX).

Location wise the area isn't bad (IMO) its walking distance to Yankee Stadium and the "Hub" area of the BX. The neighborhood is called "Melrose", I believe, and there are several convenience stores (Duane Reade, etc.) and grocery stores nearby.

I am kind of tempted to attend the interview, but then again, I feel like it might be a waste. The management company running this building has horrible reviews/a bad rep. But this location is SO much better than my current building, I could walk to the B/D and get to my job in 30mins top.

Why are you so shocked by the rent?
I live in the neighborhood and 1 bedrooms in my building are $1500.

OP the area is so so. Its a bit of a walk to the train but there is also a bus that comes frequently that will take you there fast

I looked up the address on Google maps and it looks like it is right near a big housing project. That explains the low rent, along with the location (the South Bronx).

I would be in the $1200 bracket too. No CB preference, but log number in the 1700's. I just saw it's right across the street from the projects.. bleh..

If I get called in, I'll check it out though.

Yes, I do get CB preference. My interview is scheduled in two weeks. Before then, I plan on doing a walk through the neighborhood and check it out. You're right about mgmt bad reputation. I used to hear crazy stories about them; hopefully, things are a bit different now.
