I live with my father in a Queens Mitchell Lama (Electchester).

I have been on the income affidavits ever since I was earning money.

Would it be possible for my to request an internal transfer as my own one person household?

As an aside Electchester is doing some pretty screwy things, to be honest. They told me last year that the application was open until August, but when I sent in a formal request for an application I never received one (they told me I could not request in person and had to ask in writing). Months went by, and finally I had the lady while on the phone with me check to see if she received my envelope asking for an application, and all of a sudden she told me the list was closed in May, months prior to August. Weird.

Okay, so I found the bylaws. Apparently I can't! Bummer.

I guess the wait list is closed for me then.

Interesting. So I could in theory ask for an internal transfer as a household of one, leaving my dad to his own apartment (the one I grew up in)?

Couple with one full grown child split up. He got a one bedroom, child moved out and mom kept the 2 bedroom.

I just asked. They categorically said NO even though I know a lady who works in the renting department who gave apartments to all three of her kids. Shady. /eyeroll

They said even though I am on the income affidavit for the past 10+ years, I am still not a shareholder. Only shareholders can request one.

Either get on the board or grease a palm or two.

But yeah, I took for granted you were on the stock certificate, given you were on the certifications.

They told me that only married couples can be on the stock certificates, not parent and child. Furthermore, you cannot retroactively add someone to a stock certificate.

It's frustrating! But if that's the law, that's the law.
