As the title states, I applied for a building in Astoria, there 3 units and I am log number 150 for this building in the 130% AMI.

They just asked for my paperwork, do you think I have a solid chance? It seems unbelievable that if there are 149 people ahead they wouldn't be able to fill 3 units?

Do most people with paperwork get the apartment? Normally I would say im golden, but its for 3 units...

Id love to hear thoughts. The building is 27-15 27th in Astoria. It seems this is not the whole building, just 3 units, maybe people moving out?

EDIT: Im not sure if this is a mini-lottery, I thought that meant a small building.

strange. I was log 147 for this lottery, but last summer the status changed to "no units remaining". Were you given a new number for a mini lottery or was that your original log?

Wait am I misunderstanding what "mini-lottery" is? Is it just a small amount of units? I actually had no idea this was already listed, I also have CS preference since I live in Astoria. I submitted 10/26/23

mini lotteries are specially held lotteries separate from the ones you enter on housing connect. You do not have to enter those, you just have to select "rerentals" on your preferences on housing connect. I did not enter the original lottery for this it seems, mine was "units still available". Did you enter the original?

Ah yes, so i must have entered originally. You think theres a good chance for me with a 150 log? It seems so unlikely with only 3 units

No idea, the only way to find out is to apply and see what happens. You have no idea the status of the people ahead of you, they could mostly all drop out or they could mostly all apply as well. The only way to have a chance is to apply.

Even with 149 people in front of you - there are so many variables with housing lotteries. Some people could not qualify, others could decide they don't want it, some might not respond at all, etc. Just submit the paperwork and see! They usually ask for multiple people to submit paperwork - it never hurts!

Go for it.

About the 149 people ahead of you. Discount that number. They were just taken off of an existing list. If they were asked ‘do you want to live here?’ they might say no. And, indeed, they might not send back the paperwork. We don’t how interested they are in living there. We can’t confirmed if they qualify on income or on household size even if they do want to move there.
