I think there would be more valid? things to "worry" about...
Indeed! For instance, why would you think that a drunk might push your mother onto the tracks, but not you? It seems to me that if someone has it in mind to push another human being onto train tracks, they're not going to be too particular with their choices.
I take personal offense to all of those that are trying to shift the concern the OP had from drunks to CRAZY people. There is no proof that CRAZY people are any more likely to push you in front of a train than drunks or even that over-stressed businessman in his nice suit standing behind you. The best defense is a good offense I always say.
Would a very drunk, drunk, or mildly drunk person grab my mother and throw her in the traintracks?
I'm young, i'm twenty, and i've seen how people act when they are drunk. When i'm drunk I act stupid, but I do nothing to harm anyone, no physical contact.
But some drunks go insane....real insane.
I live in New York City, and sometimes my mom goes out late at the night, and she's in the subways.
A lot of drunk people use the subways, and i'm wondering what are the chances that they may just grab her, and throw her in the train tracks?
I've seen drunks on television, but...they are really "out there" when you meet them in reality. There's no telling what they would do

Or, for that matter, some kid who thinks it's "fun." (Unfortunately for everyone's amusement here in this thread, I think the OP has long since abandoned ship. He wasn't prepared for the reactions he got, and I don't believe he appreciated them).

That's OK. It made for some entertainment for the rest of us.
Now that I think about it, this could be the basis for a new sitcom. Each week, some other person is worried about being thrown onto the subway tracks. And there could be a special celebrity drunk on each program.
Great merciful heavens...have I just given away a multimillion-dollar idea?
